Pravin Kolhe, a name suffices to do the talking. A figure that exudes confidence, optimism and perseverance. He is alumni of AVCOE, a student that has won the hearts and respect of many around him. Success is synonym to him.
He was born and brought up in Sangamner, Maharashtra and his story (Success story as he prefers to call it) is filled with twists and turns. He joined AVCOE in 1999 as a 'Civil Engineer.' His first academic downfall were plenty of 'Backlogs' he earned due to negligence towards his studies. However, it didn't lower his morale instead this incident helped in bringing the best out of him.
He found his inspiration in a Marathi book 'Amcha Baap Aan Amhi' penned by Dr. Narendra Jadhav (who currently the vice chancellor of University of Pune. ) This book inspired him in such a way that, he became the class topper in Second year. This was just the beginning. He remained the 'College topper' in the third year as well and bagged a Gold Medal for being the University Topper in the final year. His batch was fortunate enough to receive the guidance of four principals in the five-year period and were a constant source of inspiration.
Besides academics he was actively involved in social and cultural events. He became the coordinator of Sahitya Sharada, NSS secretary, Chief Editor of college magazine and finally General Secretary of college. 'While handling these responsibilities, I realized my limitations which enhanced my creativity.' exclaims Pravin
Pravin graduated in 2004 with a billion memories associated with AVCOE.
During his first job as a Junior Engineer in a private construction company at Pune, he realizes the importance of higher education and started preparing for Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) and GATE. HE successfully made into GATE with a percentile of 95.55 and his determination landed him to IIT Kanpur.
The memory he shall always hold close to his heart is 20th June 2007. It was on this day that he got once in a million lifetime opportunity to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan and interact with the then President of India - Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, as a part of Summer Camp organized by IIT Kanpur. This is his most memorable moment.
Further, Joys magnified by a million times when the results of Maharashtra Engineering Service Examination declared that he stood first in the Maharashtra state in Water Resources department. He joined as Assistant Executive Engineer in Water Resource Department, Government of Maharashtra.
Besides winning hearts Pravin Kolhe has won many awards. 'Suryakant Deshpande Memorial Prize, K Gokhale Memorial Prize, R M Francy Memorial Prize' to name a few.
When he isn't playing the role of a full time Engineer, love to read books, listen music watch documentaries, collect articles and swimming.
The story of Mr.Pravin Kolhe continues to inspire us and motivates us to take every setback as a lesson. Isn't his tale an evidence, how an institution can help you climb the ladder of success and be where you see yourself 20 years from now. Couldn't agree more when Plutarch rightly quotes “The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.”
He owes his success to AVCOE and takes immense pride in being an alumni of AVCOE. It was here where the foundation was laid where the transformation began.
