How to crack your Interview?

If you’re a final year student you shall hear one word buzzing right  from the classrooms to canteen, hostel rooms to parents inquiring about the same. Yes, you’re right! We too are talking about PLACEMENTS & INTERVIEWS.
Some of the statements that have remained constant post interviews are:
  1. What firms have come?
  2. How did it go?
  3. What questions did they ask you?
  4. Congratulations bro! You made it!
And something else that remained constant was your anxiety the night before. Today, we’re here to cure your anxiety by helping you prepare well. Read below to know how-

  1. Relax first- Right before you walk in your interview take deep breaths and give yourself some positive pep talk.
  2. Dress code- Formals are the most ideal outfit for interviews. A black suit with a white or light shirt is pretty much the industrial norm. Pay equal attention to your appearance.
  3. Posture- A stooping and a shaking figure never casts a good impression. Walk in confidently. Sit straight in the chair offered, with both feet firmly planted on the ground. Maintain eye contact as you talk and avoid fidgeting with your pen or coat buttons.
  4. Resume- It’s YOUR RESUME that does the talking in the beginning. The panel interview mostly revolves around your resume. Your academics, extra curriculars, achievements, internship etc.

We also have listed a few popular interview questions and how you can ace them.

Tell me a little about yourself- This is most often an attempt to put the candidate at ease and start the interview off on a more conversational note. This is a great opportunity to set the tone for the rest of the interview.

What made you select this college?-  Offer a response that will present you as the ideal candidate for the job.

What would you consider to be your major strength/weakness?- Be thoughtful. Describe a strength that is in some way related to the position or your work style in general. Always present any perceived weakness in a positive manner.
Where do you see yourself in the next five years?- This is a good opportunity to show that you have some clear career goals and the goals are tied to helping the company with its mission.

We hope these tips are helpful and wish all the AVCOEians all the very best for the placements and jobs! We wish you skyrocketing success in every path you select.
