What happens when the Tik Tok stops?

As we all know, the social media app Tik Tok, that has launched millions of careers across India has now been banned. So, what’s next? What social media app is going to replace this one and relaunch the careers of Indian Tik Tokers? AVCOE has a few suggestions!

  • Chingaari

This app has got over 1 crore download in just 22 days! It works just like Tik Tok where users can upload short videos of themselves and one can scrolls through videos without signing in. it was created by two Bangalore-based programmers Biswatma Nayak and Siddharth Gautam. It is available in Hindi, Bangla, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Punjabi, Malayalam, Tamil, and Telugu. The app first launched on Google Play in November 2018 & on iOS in January 2019, but only gained popularity after the banning of TikTok.

  • Instagram Reels

This is probably the most popular one currently from this list. Instagram, being an already established platform, was able to launch this new feature with a lot of success. Facebook has been trying to compete with Tik Tok since 2018 when it launched Lasso, a similar short video uploading app. But with fewer than 600,000 downloads it wasn’t a success. Now Facebook hopes that Reels will grow to become a good competitor for Tik Tok. At this point in India, it just might!

  • Dubsmash

Do you remember this app? It had become quite popular a few years ago not only amongst the youth but also adults. It is an app that let users shoot short video selfies that are lip-synced to a preselected sound clip such as famous celebrity quotes, songs, famous film dialogues, etc. The app took India by storm as celebrities and even politicians created humorous videos using the app. India was considered one of the largest markets for the German app. Who knows, maybe now is when it makes its comeback!

We will always have new players in the game no matter who comes and goes. The brand that wins is the brand that is the most user-friendly, convenient, offers the most benefits and is the most entertaining.
