How technology can make work-from-home seamless

When the world had first heard of COVID-19, not many people would have imagined that this pandemic would hit us so hard. A lot of things have changed globally, as a reaction to the pandemic and we see that despite the gloom that looms large in many places on Earth, we are also seeing innovation and progress. People are adjusting to the new normal and hence moving on from their settled ways of doing things to trying different ways of doing those exact same things.

A key area where a lot has changed is how we work and where we work from. Entire industries have shifted from working in brick and mortar spaces and physical offices to remote working or co-working spaces. While some people were able to adapt to this change very easily, for the rest it was a learning curve. This is where technology is of real help. In this blog, we discuss some of these tools and technologies that can make working from home easy or at least manageable.

Project Management

Remember how your old office had a project manager? Project management software are popular because they allow you to divide and delegate work on a department or project basis. When multiple people are working on a project or multiple teams picking up different responsibilities, Project management software can help you set task and project deadlines and share your progress. Trello, Workfront, and Basecamp are popular project management software.

Collaboration

Are two people working on the same thing but are physically miles apart? Collaboration tools like Google Drive, Confluence, etc help you work on the same thing together, without confusion or someone mistakenly doing the same task twice. The same files are shared with everyone working on the project and you can watch real-time updates of the projects as your team members simultaneously work on it.

Team Monitoring & Management

The team monitoring and management software may not be for everyone, but it is important for those who are handling larger teams where it is difficult to determine the engagement and contribution of each and every team member.

Real-Time Communication

It was feared that the biggest loss for the working professionals in remote working was going to be the loss of human interaction or the lack thereof. However, technology has ensured that no matter where you are, with a decent internet connection you can visually connect with your colleagues from around the world. This includes add-on features like file sharing, screen sharing, etc. making this a sweeter deal in total.

Remote Access

What happens when you are really struggling with something and you want someone to take a look at what you are doing? Through remote access, you can not only give access to your computer to a colleague or the IT team, but you can also remotely access your own system that is in the office, without having to actually make a trip.

No one can really tell if working from home is going to be our reality in the future but let us at least be prepared for any eventuality.

It will always be exciting to see how technology will accelerate. Let’s see what technology holds for us in the future!
