2 Brutal Productivity Skills that can maximize your output as an entrepreneur

Maximizing output is one of the most important and delicate jobs business owners and entrepreneurs have. In this blog, AVCOE lists out two such productivity skills that can maximize your output as an entrepreneur:

  • Prioritizing the essentials

One of the most powerful things that can help you as an entrepreneur is a quality of prioritizing and understanding the difference between urgent and important. According to the 80/20 Principle, approximately 20% of your tasks and projects lead to 80% of the results you want to achieve. This means that most of our time and energy is spent on things that aren’t urgent or do not matter.

Therefore, the quickest and most effective way to increase your output as an entrepreneur is to prioritize the essentials — the 20% that leads to 80% of your results.

The key is to spend more of your time and energy on these high-impact tasks and projects and waste less of your resources on low-impact things. Be very strict with yourself here. Eliminate, automate, or delegate as much of the low-value tasks and projects as possible so your free time and energy is deviated towards high-impact tasks. When you prioritize these essentials, you massively increase your output and get results faster than ever before.

  • Working in the “flow state”

Best work happens when you are all set in the flow. When you’re continuously distracted by social media, email, your smartphone, the news, or other interruptions, it’s difficult to enter a flow state. Instead, your attention will always be disturbed, and therefore, your progress will eventually slow.

Research has mentioned that every time you get distracted or switch from task to task, it takes about 25 minutes before your brain is able to focus 100% on the task at hand again. This is a concept called ‘attention residue,’ which implies that some of your attention is ‘left behind at the previous task or distraction your brain was having, for about 25 minutes.

This means that one quick glance at your instant messages or social media can disrupt your focus and prevent you from entering a flow state. When you’re in a flow state, you direct all of your attention towards one task. Your full cognitive powers are working on one thing, and that’s when you can create your best work that can create magic for your entrepreneurial journey.

As an action point for this blog, pick up these productivity skills and act on it now to make wonders happen for your entrepreneurial journey.
